Clear Lake Community Schools Equal Opportunity Employment & Affirmitive Action Statement

The Clear Lake Community School District endorses and supports the concept of affirmative action.

It is the policy of the Clear Lake Community School District not to illegally discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, disability, religion, creed, age (Employment only), marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity and socioeconomic status (students/program only) in its educational programs or employment practices as required by the Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and Title IX of the l972 Education Amendments.

Prior to a final offer of employment for any position (involving contact with students) the District may perform background checks. The District may determine on a case-by-case basis that, based on the duties, some positions within the district will require more thorough background checks. Based upon the results of the background checks, the District will determine whether an offer will be extended.

The District will also provide a fair and supportive work environment for all employees regardless of race, religion, color, creed, national origin, sex, age or disability.

Inquiries or grievances related to this policy may be directed to the Superintendent of Schools, to the Director of the Iowa Civil Rights Commission, to the Director of the Region VII Office of the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Kansas City, Missouri, or to the Region VII Office of Civil Rights within the United States Department of Education in Kansas City.
