“One Shining Moment! Reach for the Stars!” Our opportunity to shine, helping kids to reach for the stars, for their dreams!
This year’s theme focused on the metaphor of fishing and teaching and how the fisherman is like a teacher. We will explore how students are like fish. How fishing bait, tackle, and lures are like techniques, teaching strategies, and programs to help teachers “lure” students into being excited about learning. You don’t have to be a fisherman to be excited about this theme.
Our theme this year, “Lifting Everybody UP To Reach Their Dreams” means EVERYBODY. We should all have dreams – achieving a goal – visiting a place – buying that special something – travelling somewhere – buying a business; some dreams are personal – some are professional. Whatever your dream is, your team at Clear Creek should be there to support you as you work to reach your dream. In the same way we should be supporting our students to reach their dreams. Our district’s Vision is “to provide students with the tools to reach their dreams.”
Our theme for this school year is, “One Goal, One Team, Helping Everyone Become a Champion!” We will focus on what it means to be a “Champion.” What Championship Teams look like and what it means to “Champion” for something or someone. We have many Champions and Championship Teams to look at from this past summer (NBA Champion/LeBron; Stanley Cup/Hockey Champions; Olympics Champions, including Gabby Douglas and once again Michael Phelps; Wimbledon and Gold Medal Champion, Serena Williams; and let’s not forget the US Women’s Gymnastics Championship Team).
This year’s theme is “We’re PAWSitive that Clear Creek is a great place to learn, grow, and call home! We will focus on the book, The Positive Dog. The book is a parable/analogy about the benefits from being a positive person. We have a huge impact on the students in our school. Some students we impact in a positive manner; others in a negative way. Some of our actions are purposeful and some are by accident. The choice is ours to make this year a PAWSitive one. Think of all of the wonderful PAWSibilities that are out there waiting for us!
Our theme this year will be, “Show Off Your Googliness at Clear Creek, Where Innovation is Nothing New!” We will be discussing one of the top 10 companies in the world, Google. We will focus on the question, “What does it mean to have Googliness?” Employees from Google have identified 12 qualities or characteristics that Google employees must have. What you will find out is that Clear Creek has many of those same qualities.
12 Characteristics of Googliness: What Does it Mean to be Googley?
- Do the Right Thing
- Strive for Excellence
- Keep an Eye on Our Goals
- Be Proactive
- Go the Extra Mile
- Do Something Nice for Others
- Be Friendly and Approachable
- Value Users and Colleagues
- Reward Great Performance
- Be Humble
- Be Transparent, Honest and Fair
- Have a Sense of Humor
Our theme for this year is “Le’Go Build a Future at Clear Creek and Sunset Where Everything is AWESOME!” The theme is based on the Lego Movie. We know that everyday isn’t always AWESOME for everyone. Our students come to school looking for that “AWESOME” experience, memory, or moment and we are here to deliver that to each of them. With the right attitude and support most of our days can be AWESOME! Let’s make this year the most “AWESOMEST” YEAR EVERY!
Clear Creek will be going through a lot of change with the 2016-2017 school year, including a new superintendent, a new principal, a new student and family service coordinator, one new 1st grade teacher, two new 3rd grade teachers, one new 4th grade teacher, one new 5th grade teacher, four new special education teachers, and one new physical education teacher!
Through all the changes with different faces, Clear Creek and Sunset has the same commitment of EXCELLENCE! The theme for 2016-2017 at Clear Creek and Sunset is “Extreme Makeover: Clear Creek Edition!,” inspired by the popular TV show Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
Though these changes are extreme, our collective commitment to excellence will not waver. The 12 core values that make our schools great will be alive and breathing: Caring, Family/Community, Fun, Welcoming, Creative, Leadership, Support, Teamwork, Positive, Friendly, Loving, and Safe.
This year’s theme for Clear Creek and Sunset Elementary is: We’re on the Bus… Oh the Places We Will Go.
Last year our district did a book study on The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon. Gordon provides 10 rules to fuel your life, work, and team with positive energy. The Energy Bus is a great reminder of the impact a positive attitude has on an individual, a team, an organization. As leaders, teachers, staff, students and families, we can jump on board the Clear Creek and Sunset bus and have a positive impact on learning and growing for our students.
